Shameless Plug – Rivals.Com Radio

It has been brought to our attention that someone called Rivals.Com's weekly radio show and plugged our site.

Click the link and fast forward to the 15:15 mark...Thanks to Andy from Chesapeake, Virginia for the shameless plug!

For those of you just now visiting the site for the first time, we encourage you to read everything here and come to your own conclusion.  Our main purpose for this site was to have a centralized place to discuss oversigning and explain all the little details that most college football fans overlook or are unaware of because oversigning is not something that is ever talked about on shows like College Gameday on ESPN.

Please be sure to visit our Recruiting Numbers page and read so of our older posts - we believe that oversigning has cultural roots in the Southeastern part of the country and we have uncovered some every interesting stories that validate our beliefs.

  1. huh… what does academic standards have to do with a team signing more kids than they have room for? Under that logic ND can’t find 31 kids/year that can pass admissions, so they only sign 22?

    • Yeah, Mike Farrell is way off there. It’s more than just academic standards. Plus, he also misses the point that fans aren’t upset because the Big 10 is not getting higher recruiting rankings; generally speaking, fans could care less about recruiting rankings. I think fans are upset because oversigning does a disservice to kids and creates a competitive advantage.

      • I wll disagree here and reading through the Big 10 boards you see the fans upset about rankings. Does it have anything to do with oversigning directly yes, but I have read Big-10 fans complain about the rankings. I have also seen many of those same fans think that the SEC has an unfair advantage about player pools because of larger classes. Very seldom though do you fans upset on those boards talking about student being disserviced because of it. Yes some may that is not the general consensus.

Their is not a team forum that does not concern theirselves with recruiting rankings. Some more then others but they all talk about it. For me I could care less if UA never finishes in the top20. Some of our best players are players that were 3 stars and I will take them all day long.

Look J Tressel might not like to oversign just like Richt at UGA but I would wager if the Big-10 allowed it there would schools that would be no different than some in the SEC. The only thing that sets the Big-10 apart from some conferences is the academic standards to get in are not equal to the NCAA minimum and I agree there. I actually think every student whether they are an athlete or not should have the same standards to get in and very few and I mean very few require that. Northwestern, Vanderbilt, Standford, ND and a few others in the BCS conferences may but most do not. So even with those standards even the Big-10 allows athletes to enter at standards that are not the same for regular students, but they are higher than others.

  2. Funny that Farrell knew exactly what the website was about although he had never heard of it or seen it. The word is getting out. I’m proud to be the one who mentioned it on Rivals.
