Sunday Afternoon Reading

We're working on a rather long piece right now that will go over the most common arguments we receive here and we hope to have it up later today, but in the meantime, here is a great article written by Mr. SEC that I think many of you will find interesting.

And another one written by David Moulton.

  1. Those 2 articles you posted links to, particularly the first one, make their case very effectively by sticking to the facts. The authors don’t feel the need to lie and embellish and make charges they can’t substantiate, and as a result they don’t destroy their credibility.

Oversigning is a legitimate issue. The problem with this website is that YOU are not credible.

    • Just so I understand, you agree that oversigning is an issue and that it needs to be addressed, you just don’t like the way it is presented here. We can live with that. When we started this, few people even realized it was a serious problem – if we have to rub a few people the wrong way in the process of raising awareness, so be it.

      • I knew of this issue before I knew of this site, so you didn’t raise my awareness.

So you are OK pretending you’re a stickler for ethics but believe in lying if you think it strengthens your argument. The problem is that not only is lying unethical, but it weakens your argument.

And what’s with the when “we” started this, if “we” have to rub a few people…

“We” as in you and who else?

        • I can assure you that we do not lie to make a point here; have we been incorrect about a few things, sure, but we’ve tried to go back and correct those things as we can. You might not agree with our opinion on a few things but that does not mean that we are creating lies to strengthen our case. Our case is strong and it was not forged by us alone. People all over the country are starting to see this for what it is and they are starting to agree that something must be done about it to stop the exploitation of kids.

        • Rubbing people the wrong way != telling lies. Just so you know.

          • no, you just stray off the topic, destroying some of your impartialness (that is what news is about) and credibility. Reporting rumors, making posts about posters themselves, do not help your cause.

      • Joshua,

You chose to make accusations about specific coaches and specific programs and you have no way to substantiate your accusations. They are your opinions and nothing more. You lose all credibility in your crusade to cleanup recruiting by voicing your opinion, laced with lies rather than facts. And you come across as someone with a vendeta against certain coaches and programs. If you’ve got an ax to grind, then go to the source, don’t air your issues and lies.

  2. Florida has a player named Nimrod Tishman? WTF were his parents thinking?
